US Anesthesia Partners (USAP) and health tech firm Apella are teaming up to make operating rooms run smoother, faster, and smarter. Announced on July 24, 2025, the partnership blends USAP's clinical expertise with Apella's real-time data tools to help hospitals cut delays and make better use of surgical teams and resources.

Operating rooms generate much of a hospital's revenue, yet they're often plagued by late starts, long turnovers, and last-minute cancellations. Apella's system provides live insights into room readiness, staff deployment, and scheduling. When paired with USAP's on-the-ground experience, the goal is simple: reduce downtime and keep surgeries on track.

"The operating room is the financial and clinical heart of the hospital, and it's also one of the hardest environments to manage," said Jeff Terry, Executive Vice President of Health System Strategy at USAP. "This partnership gives hospitals the tools they need to align patient outcomes with operational performance."

Apella's technology already runs in major hospitals such as Houston Methodist and Tampa General, giving it a proven foothold in high-volume surgical settings. For USAP, the alliance expands its reach into the growing space where clinical care meets digital intelligence.

Healthcare analysts say such collaborations are becoming more common as hospitals seek ways to boost efficiency without adding costs. The real challenge lies in integrating new tech smoothly into already demanding clinical routines.

If the effort succeeds, it could reshape how hospitals think about surgical operations, turning data into action and chaos into coordination.
