Smarter OR Partnership Aims to Transform US Surgery

Caresyntax and Incision partner to cut delays, boost efficiency, and pilot a new era of data-driven surgical care

Operating room monitors and analytics systems supporting data-driven surgical workflows

The operating room is getting a digital makeover. Caresyntax, known for its surgical data analytics, has teamed up with Incision, a platform that standardizes surgical preparation, in a bid to cut delays and boost efficiency across U.S. hospitals.

For health systems squeezed by staff shortages, rising costs, and growing surgical demand, the partnership couldn’t come at a more critical moment. Operating rooms are among the most resource-heavy departments in any hospital and often the most prone to slowdowns.

Incision offers digital checklists and training tools that streamline pre-surgery routines. Caresyntax layers on real-time analytics, linking what happens in the OR directly to patient outcomes. Together, they aim to help hospitals measure performance and turn those insights into lasting improvements.

Early results hint at promise. Hospitals using Incision’s platform have reported as much as a 15 percent reduction in turnover times, occasionally freeing space for an extra procedure each day. While those figures await independent verification, the new partnership could amplify such gains with richer data and better coordination.

Pilot programs are set to roll out in select U.S. hospitals in the third quarter of 2025. If successful, they could pave the way for a wider shift toward “smart” operating rooms that marry preparation, performance, and outcomes.

Still, the road ahead isn’t seamless. Integrating new systems with electronic health records and ensuring staff adoption will take time. Yet the direction is clear: digital tools are no longer nice to have but key drivers of surgical efficiency and safety.

For now, the partnership’s promise is as much about mindset as technology, the idea that the future of surgery lies not only in sharper instruments but in smarter insights guiding every move.
